The video and sound project explores the theme of body image and the insecurities that arise from societal beauty standards. Within a utopian setting, conventional ideals of the human body are deconstructed and transformed into abstract, fluid forms that exist freely and without constraint. The work invites viewers to reflect on their own relationship with their bodies and aims to foster a sense of solidarity among those who have experienced similar insecurities. By confronting the pressures of beauty norms, it seeks to open space for dialogue, acceptance, and a redefined understanding of what it means to inhabit a body.
The visual component consists of a Blender animation that guides the viewer through three distinct environments, each representing a different emotional or physical state. Accompanying the imagery is a layered soundscape blending elements of nature with intimate bodily sounds such as a heartbeat or the subtle rumble of the stomach. Together, image and sound create an immersive, introspective experience that blurs the boundary between the organic and the artificial, the inner and the outer self.
The project was published in 2024 in SAMT, an independent art and design magazine created by students for students.
